Meet Suzy!

Suzy and her sister Sara were abandoned by their family and were left to survive on their own when the family moved away. Yes, there are people like this...it happens way too often!!  Luckily, a very caring neighbor took both girls in and lovingly took care of them until they came to Furry Kids.

Suzy is one of the gentlest, calmest, sweetest, and most well behaved little furry kids you will ever meet.  When we took Suzy in, we noticed she had terrible limp in her back legs and her face and body appeared crooked.  We knew we had to find out if this sweet girl was in pain.  We had x-rays taken of her entire body just to make sure we addressed everything.  We discovered that her crooked face does not seem to hinder her breathing or affect her negatively in any way.  It just makes her unique…:-0   However, as we suspected, we found out that both her back hips have severe Hip Dysplasia.  Here's what Dr. Amanda had to say about little Suzy....

Hip Dysplasia is a painful, crippling disease that causes a dog's hip to weaken, deteriorate and become arthritic. It stems from abnormal development of the hip joint – a ball-and-socket type joint – in which the head of the femur does not fit properly into the socket. Hip Dysplasia can be mild and slightly disabling, or it can be severe and cause crippling arthritis. There is no complete cure, however there are treatment options that can enhance quality of life.  For Suzy, her condition requires surgery in order for her to be able to have a better quality of life and live the life she so deserves.  Here is Dr. Amanda explaining ....

Can you help?
In order to improve Suzy's overall quality of life, we are trying to raise $900 so she can have surgery.  Since she has Dysplasia in both hips, the cost is $450 for each hip.  We’re hoping to raise enough money to schedule her surgery as soon as possible.  The longer we wait, the longer Suzy has to be in pain.

Even $5 will help and every dollar raised will go to support Suzy!

Thank you for reading Suzy’s story…we appreciate your time!

Sincerely,
The Furry Kids’ Refuge team!
